Can you feel the geekness?
After separating the two HDDs, one started working again. So I went and backed up everything I needed from the laptop ... only to realize that my CD-drive still doesn't accept every CD-ROM I'm feeding it with. Which is kinda bad when it doesn't accept the system boot CD. Soooooo ... time to save money, so I can finally put that old piece of hardware crap out of machine and move on. 3 nights of working in the pub should cover it, as long as tips are good.

After managing to set my DSL-modem up for a router, I now have 4 computers in my room, all running online games: 3 for EVE-Online and, since tonight, one for World of Warcraft. Only 2 of those computers belong to me, though (a desktop PC and my laptop), the other 2 are belong to my local geek cronies FL and Quug. We've spent pretty much all night long with playing online, the other two having left only about 15 minutes ago. Yes, it's 0520 at my place now... X_x

So. Looking forward to another 36 hours of gaming, then I'm heading home until Saturday or Sunday and next week, I'll have Annie visiting me. Really looking forward to that ... and I do hope she'll bring along those shoes she mentionned on her blog. ;)

240 GB storage space ... wasted?!
So I've been fighting the evil that is technology again. For 2 days now, I've tried hard to get my once reliable and "good ol'" desktop PC up and running again; results, unfortunately, don't vary.
It very much looks like both of my HDD (120 GB each) are suffering from immense internal damage: lots and lots of damaged sectors that don't let me repair them. I'm not giving up though. After all, I've managed to finally configure my DSL modem for a router. Took me just short of 4 months, and it was so easy now that I know what the problem has been.
So I'll see if the same is applicable for my HDD. Stubborness sometimes does solve technical problems, after all. And if it doesn't in this case, well ... I guess I'll have to see where I get my 40GB music and 20GB movies back. *sigh*

Apart from that, I'm fine, though.
Semester holiday is upon me, I failed both my history and Chinese exams and have to re-sit them on April 5th and 6th respectively; which means I'll start diving into my books again this weekend. But oh well, I'll make it. I always did, somehow. ;)

Please refrain from commenting. Thank you.
Last Thursday I got to know about my best friend's mother's horrible death in a car crash on Friday, January 22nd 2005, when she was on her way to the elementary school she taught at.
I went home immediately and attended the funeral on Friday, the happiness of seeing my best friend again, who had been in New Zealand since October, being heavily darkened by the circumstances of the situation.

Her mother loved working with the kids at school and invested a lot of time, energy and heart into that work. She leaves behind her husband and her 3 children, her youngest daughter being only 17.

I can't begin to imagine what her family's going through at this time and what it'll be like for them to continue without their mother and wife. But I know that I've not felt this kind of sadness ever before and I only met her a few times without ever really getting to know her much.

I hope she rests in peace, and that her family finds the strength to live with this loss, continue their lives and always keep her in mind as the cheerful and energetic woman she was.
