...8...9...OUT
Well, well, well. It's been too silent for too long a time. Murphy apparently had had enough time to plan his revenge. The result was not only my stairs-accident, no, tonight he struck again. This time, it was a car accident including 60km/h, iced-over snow and the only tree in miles. Oh, and me in the car of course.
Fucking January. Good thing tomorrow's the last day of it.

P.S: I'm fine, but I'm fucking pissed off.

Nameless injuries / Murphy got me at last
Well. I have to admit it: my English has reached its limit. I have an injury on my lower spine and I have no idea how to properly translate it. Jay (from neversmile) came up with "invertebral disc incident", which sounds right to my non-native ears.
Anyways. The stairs were a worse idea than I had originally thought. Even though nothing is broken, the lower part of my spine is injured. One of the discs between the bones has gone astray and decided that moving out might be an option. I'm walking like an old man since back then, and today, I've been sent home for an unknown time to do some therapy. Good thing that Army's paying for that, otherwise I'd be a wreck with close-to-22, because neither me nor my parents could afford the treatment. It'll take a few weeks, maybe even months and it won't heal completely (ever!), but it'll get better.
Skydiving, at least the Army way, has officially died, though. As has any activity that goes beyond walking and I'm not even allowed to carry anything heavier than 3-4 kilogram. I feel a bit like a crippled, old man...

Downstairs
Mental note: Hurrying down the stairs can be really unhealthy.

I managed to fall down the stairs yesterday when I was a bit in a hurry to get to the trainstation. X-ray shows nothing is broken - no shit Sherlock! As if I was walking around with a broken spine! That was really amazing news brought to me by the most incredible doctor I've so far encountered! - but I might be required to go to a hospital if my back's not getting better within the next couple of days. Also, since the fall, my left leg tends to go numb all of a sudden, which is absolutely weird, especially if it happens while I'm standing or walking...

At least I had a "good reason" for going to the doc again.

Good thing, bad thing
  • Good thing: my weekend was absolutely enjoyable, as I spent about 95% of it with J (my girl); also, we went to see "Body Worlds" in Frankfurt yesterday, which was sort of interesting, even though it made me think what the anatomical sense of a preparation in the pose of a check player (or basketball player, or guy holding up his own skin) might be. I couldn't find any, except for "l'art pour l'art", which is, to my mind, rather unnecessary and doesn't show too much dignity towards the dead.

  • Bad thing: Due to the bloody uncomfortable seating in German trains, my back hurts like hell and I feel like an old man, not being able to tie my shoe-laces without grimacing thanks to little hot needles racing up my spine. Also, my right foot constantly grows dizzy. To quote Star Wars: "I have a bad feeling about this." I might have to pay the doc a visit, yet again. You bet my superiours won't like that, but what am I supposed to do...?!

    And the World turns white
Today, around 0800, everything started turning white. Beautiful, thick snow-flakes emerged from what was first deemed a depressingly grey sky, covering the entire base with their ever-softening, peaceful blanket of ... ah fs. IT FINALLY FEELS LIKE WINTER! Yeeehaw! We were discussing building a snowman (is that an appropriate english expression?) or two right in the middle of the base earlier and we'd have tons of snow to build even an entire bataillon. Well, it feels like that, at least...

Good thing though that I have to go get some immunization tomorrow, that spares me from sleeping two nights out in the cold, heh. I'm such a pussy.

    First week's resumee
Well, it's been the first week of army service after 4 long weeks of holidays - and we had hardly anything to do! Except for some sport exercises every day, there wasn't anything interesting.
Too bad that it was sports that brought me down. Dislocated ankle and stressed ligaments made my walking look more like constant stumbling for the past 2 days, but it's slowly getting better thanks to some pain-suppressing pills I got from the doc. Evil side effects include extreme tiredness, though, so I'm a sort of walking corpse at the moment.
Apart from that, I'm fine though, and things with J are going fine.

My "bring it on, Murhpy" still stands strong...

P.S: Thnaks Annie, fro poitnign uot my speling mistaeks. ;)

    The end of all things
Well, not really, but the end of my holidays. Tomorrow, army needs me again, and since they pay comparably good, I'll go and do my thing down there again. I'll be back to the online world on the weekends mostly again, so have fun in the meantime and rest assured, if anything out of the ordinary happens, I'll let you know...
    Signing out for now.

    Summer plans
This year's summer is supposed to feature
  • a few and more days with a wonderful girl (I plan to keep this up, yes I do for sure!)

  • a one-week trip to France or some other nice'n'warm southern European country with the same crew that did the 2003 Denmark trip

  • a one-week (probably 2 weeks) trip to Slovakia where I'll meet some 'online people' that were or came to be really good and real life friends

  • a non-military skydiving license including (if possible) the tandem-master training and license (extravagant bday presents ahoy!)

  • lots and lots of Guarana Verde in our garden, in the sun

  • This summer is bound to be fun. Bring it on, Murhpy, beat that!

    Happy New Year indeed
Guess what! Life has chosen to be unfair to my advantage and blessed me with a special someone!
After deciding that the chapter in my life concerning A had to be at its end, life started the next chapter without asking me, by introducing the wonderful J to my life a few months ago - even before I had closed the old chapter - and gave me a nudge on New Year's Eve. So now it very much seems like a happy relationship will be part of my life again. I feel little butterflies getting ready to rumble in my stomach and it feels oh-so-good!
    Happy New Year indeed!
