I was going to blog about something else...
...but then my thoughts wandered off to that incredibly hot Portugese girl I'll be working with for the next 2 months at least! She's like omgwtfbbqhawt! She also is probably 5 years older than me (she told me today she'd be done with uni for 2 years now) and most likely not interested at all in hooking up with the new guy from work, but oh well, can't have it all; and eye-candy at work is as good a start as it can get I guess.

Other than that, there's not really anything interesting to tell. Maybe except for me getting a company laptop which I might be allowed to take home - nice thing, because this pile of crap I'm using right now hardly works for anything but browsing, IRC and MSN; and I got a whole lot of LOST episodes to catch up on! - and the fact that I forgot to shop for anything cookable, again. So it's sandwich night again, and unfortunately, not the naughty kind...

That said, I hear a sandwich calling out for me.

Regular service commmencing
I've moved my ramblings on all that is finnish to a new blog in order to keep up with regular blogging here. The new one will cover my everyday stuff during my stay in Tampere, whereas this one here will be the old and well-known ... stuff.
I wanted to do something new, so I guess you'll have to follow 2 blogs now. ;)

Who needs warm clothes...
...when you have lots of hot girls running around downtown?! :)
I went downtown today, to do a bit of food-shopping and for getting a general feeling of the city, in order to find my way around etc and I'll be damned if I ever saw so many hot chicks in one place! I am definitely going to enjoy my stay here (God, I can't wait for warm weather to hit this place!!), and I am destined to get into trouble involving at least one girl .. knowing myself, it'll be more than just one. ;)

Anyways. Walking about 5 hours at -12°C sure gives my personal definition of "cold" a new meaning. I think the last time I've had comparably low temperatures was roughly 7 years ago when I went skiing in the French Alps, and truth be told, I think it was warmer even then.
I've not felt so healthy in a long time though, the air up here near the lake is great and apparently the equation goes something like "sun + cold = happy".
I've made plans to try out cross-country skiing - with a lake that's frozen over and used for just that right around the corner, it's tempting - and I've also decided to do some around-the-lake hiking in the late afternoon hours (early evening hours, once I start working), seeing how good I feel now.

Aaaaanyways. I need more food, looking at hot girls made me hungry. ;p

Message from the cold North
I arrived safely in Tampere, Finland last Friday afternoon.
My living quarters are nice and comfortable, my bed's cozy, the view from my desk is great (especially since it's all snowy and white and whatnot!), the weather has been good so far too, I've only had blue skies and sun so far.
I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with my internet connection, it's been acting up a bit since last night, and I've had periods of being offline every now and again that have been very annoying, since I reinstalled my OS and gotta do quite a few updates .. ah well.
I'm hoping it's a temporary issue; and even if it's not, I'll be fine once work starts, which should be some time during the coming week.

Anyways. I'll drop a word every now and again, I'll make sure to get some pictures done and uploaded, but for now I'll just sign off again and head to something relaxing. I'm still a bit tired from my last week in Germany...

Rest in peace
Last night, minhoka, a member of the long-standing hirr community, passed away in his sleep at the age of 25.
My condolences go to the family and real life friends.

minhoka had been in hospital for more than a week already due to a lung infection and pneumonia.

Rest in peace mate.

A sad Captain.

What I would give..
..for Chuck Norris roundhouse-kicking Murphy once and for all!

I'm supposed to leave for Tampere in 3 days, I was supposed to go and visit my grandparents today, as well as deliver my PC to Zzz .. and I somehow manage to grab a bad stomach on the fly last night. Been up half night trying not to throw up into my freshly cleaned up apartment, I feel like crap, I won't be able to go see my grandparents before I leave for Tampere.

I've so had it with stomach sickness for the rest of the year.

:o

And so it begins...
4 days from now, I'll already be up in the sky, flying towards Tampere, Finland.
Tonight, I'll turn off my PC, put it in some sort of bag, and tomorrow it'll be taken to my good friend PM's place, where it'll be put to good use for the next 4 months; I'm sure of that.
Starting tonight, I'll only be able to be online if my laptop allows me to. The CPU fan seemed to work nicely again last night when I did a testrun, but you never know. So if I disappear without further notice, it's due to my laptop being a bitch.
I'm hoping to be back online some time during the next weekend, but that, too, is unsure.

I'm going to Finland. Wow. I'm excited, a bit nervous, very much looking forward to the job, the people, seeing ruxu's little baby boy, drinking lots of expensive beer in the first 2 days, enjoying sauna and hot finnish girls (not necessarily but preferably in that combination), finnish winter (I didn't really have any winter over here), hopefully some snow...
I think I might stay long enough for Midsummer Night, I'm hoping for lots of nice visitors (I already have 3 prospective visitors "booked"!), and even more hot finnish girls; but I think I already mentionned those...

Anyways. I'll give a shout once I arrived, and as soon as I'm back online for real I'll do my best to keep you up-to-date with my latest adventures in Finland.

London's getting cheap
Well, it almost is.
It used to be leading the top 3 most expensive cities in Europe, but it seems that my statistics were old; nowadays, Oslo is not only the most expensive city in Europe, Oslo's the most expensive city in the world!
London's still on #7 though, so I guess I'll still be leaving a lot of money there...
